Star Wars on Nuke Training.
What piece of film footage could I use to inspire me to relearn and broaden my knowledge of the Nuke Software, other the the film that inspired me to follow my dreams. The Nuke Star Wars training was done at Method Studios facility, in my own time, with elements found on-line and Method Studios elements Library. The elements used to create the sequences are as follows...
- Youtube Spanish version of the Star Wars opening. Had to breakdown the Youtube 4-1 frame rate compression to the usable 24fps to work from.- 6K Star Wars logo. (the type crawl was done in Nuke)- Star field BG done Flame and imported into Nuke. Projected in the Nuke Scene to match the camera till.- Ralph Mcquarrie 4K matte Painting found online.- Free VERY high 3D Hi-Polygon Models files of the Star destroyer and the Rebel cruiser. Nuke Vray was used to light and texture map the Star destroyer, and I made my own texture map in Nuke and used Nuke Vray light and texture map the Rebel Cruiser.- Explosion elements from Method Studios Element Library.- RGB 35mm Film scan grain from Method Studios Element Library.
The three Youtube shots were scaled up to Anamorphic resolution, scrutinized to match the lensing, the camera pan and tilt, Type layout crawl, paint vectors for Lasers, the lighting,(using Nuke Vray), chromatic distortion using the RGB film grain scan, Spherical lense scene file Vray rendering to anamorphic, and composited using the most simplest form to match the original Optical Printing technique, as exampled from the behind the scene videos on the website.Let me know if you want me to elaborate more on how I executed these pieces.
Every frame was Designed, Created, Lit, Rendered, Exported from Nuke. NO Star Wars film material was ever used to create this sequence. Because it looks SO convincing, people will think it was lifted from the original Film. I have had to convince people that It was ALL done in the Nuke Software. The Nuke Files were finally conformed on the Flame with the audio scratch track used from the Spanish Youtube.
